In this INTRO to PUMPING we’ll understand how this technique works and how to use it. In this 4 hour workshop Terry will use both Pumping Techniques and GOT techniques to allow both experienced therapists and fitness professionals that are approaching hands on work to understand the potentials of this very beneficial modality.
Our aim as trainers/therapist is to normalize the rhythm of the primary respiratory mechanism(PRM), the circulation of the fluid within the makeup of the fascia, namely the cells, fibers such as collagen, and the extra cellular matrix. We can accomplish this through specific exercise that we already know such as Eldoa, myofascial stretching, proprioception or reinforcement and we can also affect this manually with techniques such as GOT or articulation pumping.
GOT (general osteopathic treatment) and articulated pumping both aim to change the intrinsic motility of the connective tissue(fascia) and thereby the mobility of the targeted articulation. The intent of GOT is to work globally, to remove obstacles that affect movement and the circulation of fluids. It serves as a tool to both identify and treat a structural lesion.
The intent of pumping is again to normalize the intrinsic motility of the fluid or PRM, but to be more specific than GOT. We can specifically target a ligament, capsule, bursa or tendon.

Instructor: TERRY FRANGOPOULOS PT,CSSC
Terry, is the founder of SOMAFIT, a revolutionary, results-driven orthopedic rehabilitation facility located in Long Island. He is devoted to the training of world-renowned osteopath, Dr. Guy Voyer, of Marseilles, France. Terry is a Licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Terry’s physical therapy degree comes from Stony Brook University Medical Center, which fueled his lifelong quest to understand the way the systems of the human body interact for performance, healing and wellbeing. He has worked as a strength coach administering training programs with MLB farm teams and worked privately with NHL players.
For the past 15 years Terry has studied both privately and at the Academy Sutherland of Osteopathy in Canada, under world renowned French osteopath, Guy Voyer, DO. The advanced training allowed Terry to apply Dr. Voyer’s ELDOA method and articular pumping techniques to bring the body to a pain-free state and prevent future injuries. This radical new approach bridges the gap between osteopathic manual therapy and physical therapy. SOMAFIT is rooted in the analytical study of anatomy, fascia, and the tensegrity model of biomechanics. Terry, is one of the few qualified to teach Voyer’s somatherapy and ELDOA Method.
